The island is linked by air and ferry to mainland Scotland.
The Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Lewis sails 2-3 times daily between Stornoway and the small port town of Ullapool.
Caledonian MacBrayne also regularly sails between Tarbert (Isle of Harris), Uig (Isle of Skye) and Lochmaddy (North Uist).

Stornoway Airport provides a key access point to Lewis and the Western Isles, with flights from Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow, and inter-island services to Benbecula and Barra.
